On Friday, November 10, the Irvine Police Department plans to conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver's License checkpoint in Southern California. The checkpoint, as announced by the Irvine Police Department's Facebook page, is designed to be a proactive measure against drunk driving and to ensure drivers are properly licensed.
Set to take place near the intersection of Culver Dr. and Main St., the checkpoint will operate from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. It will be clearly marked for drivers to easily identify.
The announcement states that the operation is funded by a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety. This office receives its funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an organization committed to promoting safer roads and reducing drunk and drug-impaired driving.
