Two men from Los Angeles, Alfonso Godinez Zacarias and Carlos Salgado, are under arrest owing to a spate of catalytic converter thefts in Ojai. Previously in custody for grand theft, burglary tool possession, and crime conspiracy, fresh charges have been added to their rap sheet. The recent spat of arrests came into motion after the Ojai Detective Bureau received extra information, encompassing video footage from citizens who answered a media notice as per reported by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
In the period between October 27 and November 2, nine catalytic converter thefts were reported in and around Ojai, which subsequently led to the arrest of the duo of Zacarias and Salgado on November 2.
The Ventura County Sheriff's Office's message emphasized the importance of community-detective cooperation for maintaining an even-handed, legitimate, and effective law enforcement system. "We would like to express our gratitude to the community members who provided additional information and evidence," read the statement. As a result, with the detectives working on potential leads, the Ojai community can continue to breathe easy.
