Three passengers were injured after a 19-year-old driver crashed a 2005 Nissan Frontier in La Jolla and fled the scene early Wednesday morning. The rollover accident occurred on Nautilus Street, leaving two teenagers ejected from the vehicle, with one reported to have sustained a skull fracture. Officers responded to the chaotic scene while the driver's whereabouts remained unknown, per ABC 10News.
The vehicle was found incapacitated and all three passengers were transported to the hospital with varying degrees of injury. San Diego Police Officer David O'Brien confirmed the hospitalizations to NBC San Diego. The investigation continues as detectives search for the driver, and the exact conditions of the victims are yet to be disclosed.
Investigating officers found alcohol bottles at the crash site, suggesting that the accident may have involved driving under the influence. While police have not officially confirmed a DUI, the evidence suggests that alcohol may have played a role in the crash. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
