A recent study by SmartAsset reveals where millennials are choosing to live in 2022. Among the urban sprawl, Austin stands out as a preferred location for the young and ambitious. The hustle and bustle of the big city has attracted a new wave of youth who are constantly seeking opportunities. With its vibrant culture and booming tech scene, Austin ranked as the ninth most popular destination for the 25 to 44 set, according to data released and crunched by the financial technology company this month.

A staggering 103,461 millennials planted roots in Austin, making up 10.7% of its overall population. KXAN reported that the city's median age aligns with this trend, citing SmartAsset's findings that set Austin at a median age of 34.7 years. Not far behind, Killeen, another Texas star in the Top 10, drew nearly 17,000 of these new millennium-savvy residents, representing 10.8% of its population, while boasting a median age of a sprightly 30.4 years old.

But Texas wasn't alone in its draw of the millennial masses. The allure of the East Coast shimmered in places like Cambridge, Massachusetts, where a fresh cohort of more than 17,000 young adults settled last year, comprising an astonishing 14.7% of the city's residents and boasting a millennial median age of just 29.9 years, as per findings by SmartAsset. While Santa Clara, California, drenched in Silicon Valley sun, welcomed approximately 16,661 newcomers, amounting to 13.3% of the local populace. This data, pointed out by Newser, confirms that the pursuit of innovation and prosperity continues to steer millennials toward hubs of industry and advancement.

Certainly, the West Coast had no shortage of millennial migrants, either. Techie towns like Sunnyvale, California, became hotspots with some 18,862 new millennials, representing 12.5% of the municipality, ensuring their tech-savvy inquisitiveness was well-met. Seattle, not staying behind, cradled an impressive 93,302 of these young sentients, which was about 12.5% of its population, according to SmartAsset. And let's not forget the mountain-cradled realm of Denver, Colorado, where 85,390 young denizens made up 12.1% of the population—surely, the allure of open skies and snowy slopes played its part in this demographic's migration.

The SmartAsset study continues to reel off cities like Sandy Springs, Georgia; Arlington, Virginia; and Belleville, Washington, as leading lights attracting the millennial generation—each city, with its unique charms and promises of a future, etching itself as a chapter in the lives of these modern nomads, as reported by Newser.
