In a shocking assault in San Leandro, a man was apprehended for a lethal shooting in a Chili's Grill & Bar parking lot yesterday. The individual in custody, 48-year-old Samuel Langworthy of Oakland, allegedly shot a woman after a verbal disagreement according to the San Leandro Police Department's press release.
Reports indicate that the shooting occurred after a heated dispute involving Langworthy and his domestic partner's adult daughter. Langworthy, it is said, fetched a handgun from his vehicle and shot the victim once in her head, at close range. Anywhere might lurk the firearm since, having confessed to throwing it from his vehicle on the freeway, Langworthy has declined to reveal any precise location.
A tragic imprint has been left on the community by this horrifying act, as evidenced by Hoodline's account of the event. The first report emphasized the urge to capture the accused while lamenting the undeserved loss of life.
Langworthy was caught by the California Highway Patrol officers who recognized his car on Interstate 5 near Coalinga, CA. Lieutenant Abe Teng from the San Leandro Police Department expressed his gratitude to the officers involved, stating, "They have enabled us to provide the victim’s family the prompt justice they deserve."
