An alarming situation where 2-year-old McKenna, who was placed into a temporary home by CPS, was attacked by the family's Pitbull causing significant facial injuries.
McKenna's parents Dalena and Jeremy Martin allege the dog, which previously displayed aggressive behavior, savagely attacked the young girl. Mckenna's parents claim they warned CPS of the dog's prior aggression, even reporting an attack outside the home that Mckenna was placed in two months prior to this incident. Dalena had asked a CPS worker to place Mckenna in a different home days before the attack occurred, per WFAA. There was already a temporary safety plan in place by CPS for the dog displaying aggressive behavior in prior instances, as reported by WFAA.
The pit bull, who recently gave birth to a litter of puppies, inflicted catastrophic injuries on McKenna; separating her facial tissue from her skull and crushing her cheekbones, as cited by WFAA and CBS Austin.
While McKenna fights her way through recovery, her parents are dealing with the emotional turmoil of their child's ordeal and the battle to regain custody. A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with the daunting medical expenses.
