A young man's attempt to steal mail in Pleasant Hill was thwarted by alert residents and police intervention on Thanksgiving morning. Samuel Amaro, 20, of Concord, found his mini-crime spree cut short when neighbors spotted him taking mail that wasn't his, and the Pleasant Hill Police Department rapidly apprehended him. Amaro tried to flee in his vehicle, but the police were quick to respond with drone assistance as mentioned on the police department's Facebook page.
The officers intercepted the suspect moments before he was able to escape into the community. Amaro was discovered with stolen mail from various addresses, leading to his arrest and multiple charges. The police expressed their satisfaction with having stopped the spree of thefts.
"Continuing on with our thankfulness this Thanksgiving, this morning we were thankful for watchful citizens that helped us catch this mail thief," the Pleasant Hill Police proclaimed.
