San Jose is reeling from yet another fatality, a wheelchair-bound female pedestrian, in a traffic collision yesterday. This event marks the city's 45th traffic death this year, and the 24th pedestrian death, via the San Jose Police Department.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Chesbro Avenue and Blossom Hill Road. A 2006 gray Chevy Trailblazer SUV, driven by a lone adult male, struck the pedestrian, to begin heading northbound on Blossom Hill Road against a red light. She was transported to a local hospital where she later passed away. The driver of the SUV stayed and cooperated with the investigation.

Speeding has been identified as a leading cause of many traffic accidents. Nevertheless, the city is taking action against speeding by implementing traffic calming measures such as lower speed limits, speed bump installation, and introducing slower intersections.

Anyone with information on this investigation is urged to contact Detective Leslie #4264 of the San Jose Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit at [email protected] or 408-277-4654.
