Following the Cinco de Mayo shooting incident, the San José Police Department (SJPD) has apprehended a suspect. On May 5, a report of a weapon discharge left an individual with a non-life-threatening graze wound, according to the SJPD's report.
The Gang Investigations Unit (GIU) of the SJPD identified 32-year-old Juan Samarron as the prime suspect. Empowered by these findings, the GIU and Gun and Hazardous Offender Suppression Team obtained an arrest and search warrant for Samarron's residence.
On November 7, the San José Police Department's Covert Response Unit (CRU) and SJPD patrol units executed the warrants at the suspect's residence in Hollister. The successful operation represents the effective collaboration between multiple law enforcement units dedicated to public safety.
The Santa Clara County Superior Court issued a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO), resulting in the confiscation of two semi-automatic handguns, one bolt action rifle, and one semi-automatic rifle from Samarron's residence. Samarron was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and firearm-related charges.
SJPD urges those with information about this case or associated incidents to submit anonymous tips via various platforms as provided in their report. The Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers Program also offers cash rewards for information leading to an arrest, ensuring the informant's anonymity.
