On November 14, the San Mateo Police Department apprehended Miguel Boch-Chamale, who allegedly assaulted a security guard at San Mateo Medical Center. Following the initial report of the incident, the hospital and law enforcement officials responded swiftly.
According to the official statement by the San Mateo Police Department, Boch-Chamale brandished a knife and threatened the security guard's life in the parking lot after attempting to get into the hospital and being asked to leave by staff. The guard, fearing for his safety, fired his weapon into the air.
The police statement further asserts that Boch-Chamale inflicted additional threats by launching an exploding firework toward the hospital and staff before fleeing the scene. While the hospital was under lockdown, police worked quickly to locate and arrest Boch-Chamale who was found a few blocks away.
