On November 3, an auto theft investigation in San Rafael led to the arrest of Jeffrey Eloy Martinez. A Marin County Coordination of Probation Enforcement (COPE) detective recognized Martinez driving a stolen green Chevy truck, per the Marin County Sheriff's Office.
The COPE detective promptly informed the Specialized Investigative Unit (SIU) and San Rafael Police Department (SRPD), outlining their planned operation.
When the detective momentarily lost sight of Martinez due to traffic, he was resourceful in tracking down the unattended vehicle in an industrial area. Subsequent to ensuring that it was the stolen vehicle, he enlisted the support of the SIU and updated SRPD on the developing situation.
The ensuing operation saw a successful collaboration between the three units.
