The Santa Rosa Police Department's Property Crimes Investigations Team clapped the cuffs on two suspects following a two-month probe into a spate of storage unit burglaries. Nickolas Nachorny, 38, and his accomplice Shane Milbourn, 46, found themselves behind bars, linked to the string of thefts that saw musical instruments and sports memorabilia worth an estimated $20,000 vanish into the Santa Rosa night, as reported by Santa Rosa Police Department's Facebook page.
The sleuths sprung into action on September 30 when they got wind of the burglaries at a storage site on the Hearn Avenue block. It wasn't long before the coppers' noses led them to a recently rented unit that housed the pilfered goods, including the instruments and treasured collectibles. The unit also held shotgun ammo reported SRPD.
Detectives then performed search warrants for social media companies and cell phone providers in a bid to tighten the net around the suspects. These led the law enforcers to Nachorny's lair on Yulupa Avenue, where the suspect was nabbed on November 14. That left Milbourn, who was spotted on November 20 in downtown Santa Rosa, leading to an exit from a vehicle accompanied by the narcotics pipe to the sidewalk.
A search turned up what appeared to be meth under the seat, putting a period on Milbourn's free ride. His booking at the Sonoma County main house included not just burglary and conspiracy but also ammo possession by a felon, identity theft, and possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia. The investigation is still ongoing as detectives hunt down the remaining swag according to Sgt. Patricia Seffens, the department's public information officer.
