On November 11, a violent incident took place in the South Austin area, resulting in four fatalities, including an Austin Police Department (APD) Officer Jorge Pastore.
A KXAN report reveals new details about the incident on Bernoulli Drive. A resident who managed to escape after being critically injured initially called APD officers to the scene. When the officers arrived, the suspect's gunfire compelled them to retreat, impacting their rescue attempt.
Upon the SWAT team's arrival, the suspect opened fire, killing Pastore and resulting in his own death, as detailed in a Hoodline report. Along with Officer Pastore, two other individuals were found dead inside the house, suggesting they might have been held hostage by the suspect. According to KXAN, the search warrant discloses the suspect's use of cutting instruments, body armor, and tactical gear during the altercation.
Motives behind this violent incident remain unclear. The warrant has identified multiple parties linked with the residence as "suspected parties." However, how each of them was involved in the incident is yet to be clarified.
The event's body-worn camera footage will be included in two different investigations by APD: one administrative and one criminal; both supervised by the Travis County District Attorney's Office and the Office of Police Oversight, as per Hoodline.
