
Blazing through the South LA skyline, flames engulfed an apartment building on Vermont Avenue before the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived to subdue the inferno. At approximately 7:11 p.m. yesterday, fire crews descended upon a two-story apartment building at 4510 S Vermont Av, fighting a voracious attic fire. The LAFD detailed the scenario in an online alert, noting that "Firefighters are in the offensive mode" as they battled the blaze in the Vermont Square neighborhood.
In an impressive display of efficiency and skill, the 40 firefighters at the scene managed a knockdown of the blaze in a mere 17 minutes, with the update coming from the LAFD KNOCKDOWN, firefighters extinguished the fire in 17 minutes with no injuries reported." While the initial report described the structure as an apartment building, it was later clarified in a subsequent alert that the edifice was actually a duplex. The fire department ensured the safety of all, stating no injuries were sustained in the evening's events. Stationed at FS 46, the teams from Batt 13 within the South Bureau tirelessly worked to protect the citizens in Council District 9 from the towering threat.
The LAFD has yet to disclose the cause of the fire. Amid the specter of destruction, the rapid and brave response from Los Angeles' firefighters likely saved both lives and property, preventing the inferno from spreading to nearby homes and families.
