The "suspicious item" was initially identified around 3:30 p.m. on November 20, triggering a response from law enforcement officers. This incident caused a disturbance for travelers. Nevertheless, the efficient work of the Austin Police Department swiftly brought the situation under control. Elizabeth Ferrer, an airport spokesperson, said such incidents "usually are nothing" and typically are resolved within 30 minutes as stated in the Austin American Statesman report.
The incident, which unfolded at 3:30 p.m. and resolved quickly to by 5:54 p.m., led to approximately two hours of disruption for passengers, further exacerbating an already chaotic day at the airport as reported on Fox 7 Austin. The origins of the suspicious package are still a mystery, with no suspects apprehended or responsibility claimed as of the time of this report.
