Kevin John Malone, a 32-year-old from Longboat Key, Florida, has been sentenced to five years in prison linked to a February 2016 jewelry store robbery in Half Moon Bay, California. According to the San Mateo County District Attorney's office, in the course of the heist, Malone and his co-defendant, Jebediah Deangelis, were found with a handgun and a stun gun. Over $100,000 worth of merchandise was stolen, including hundreds of loose diamonds found in Malone's possession at his arrest.

Goldworks, a jewelry store at 542 Main Street in Half Moon Bay, was the scene of the incident on February 8, 2016. As reported by SFGate, Deangelis, then 25, from Poughkeepsie, New York, acted as the customer before revealing a gun. Detective Sal Zuno from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office reported that Deangelis filled a black bag with stolen gems. Malone saw an employee setting off a silent alarm and alerted Deangelis, leading both to quickly leave the scene.

The duo was arrested four days later following a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation in Indianapolis. A weapon and additional evidence discovered during the arrest linked the suspects to the Goldworks heist. The suspects were initially incarcerated in an Indianapolis jail and later extradited to San Mateo County for prosecution.

Kevin John Malone has been sentenced to serve a five-year prison term for his crimes.
