Michelle Serrano Gonzalez, a Texas-based hair stylist, has been tangled in bureaucratic red tape trying to secure an official birth certificate for her daughter after giving birth solo in her car. Gonzalez's astonishing self-delivery occurred outside her salon, with no witnesses to validate the birth, leading to an unexpected struggle with the state's documentation processes.
Despite the intense pain and bleeding that overtook her while parked outside of Hill Country Salon Suites, Serrano Gonzalez, 42, was advised by the 911 operator to "just go ahead and push, don’t keep her in" as per The Messenger report. After she gave it her all, the baby was then rushed to Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital in Round Rock, Texas, by EMTs.
An elated yet frustrated Serrano Gonzalez recounted her ordeal, saying, “I could feel me tearing and I felt her head come out … I quickly just grabbed her. She was still in her sack. I could see her swimming around in the fluid and crying, and I quickly just yanked the sack off of her,” as stated in FOX59 report.
Now named Zayla, the baby is healthy and being cared for at home. According to FOX59, Serrano Gonzalez is still piecing together the requirements without a clear indication of when they will culminate in the acquisition of her daughter's certificate.
With Thanksgiving around the corner, Serrano Gonzalez reflects on her blessings yet remains troubled by her ongoing predicament. "It makes me very upset," she said, as per The Messenger news report.
