Early Thanksgiving turned to tragedy in North Austin as a man was seriously injured in a shooting at the Chase Village Apartments as reported by CBS Austin. Officials have confirmed the violent act occurred just before 2 a.m., a harsh interruption of a holiday meant for gratitude and family gatherings.
In the struggle to piece together the events leading up to the gunfire, Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the scene in the 8000 block of Gessner Drive, just east of US 183 Highway, where they found the victim with serious injuries. According to KXAN, the man, who was taken to a local trauma center, is fortunately expected to quickly recover.
The Austin Police Department is actively conducting an investigation into the shooting. While authorities have not yet released information on potential suspects or motives, the Austin police informed KXAN that they certainly believe the incident to be an isolated one, offering scant solace to a community again rattled by the sound of gunshots.
