Three juvenile suspects were arrested in East Palo Alto following a shooting event on October 13. The incident occurred on Cooley Ave, and according to the City of East Palo Alto, no casualties were reported, and video surveillance led to the identification of the juveniles, aged 15-16.
Different law enforcement agencies, including East Palo Alto Police, the US Marshal Service, Atherton Police Department, and San Mateo County Sheriff's Office conducted the joint operation leading to their arrest and seizure of five firearms, high-capacity magazines, and ammunition yesterday. Specifically, the recovered weapons included a 60-round magazine for an AR-15 rifle and a Glock style pistol, both identified as ghost guns.
Aside from firearms, 22 ounces of cocaine, MDMA pills, and marijuana, packaged to sell, were found on the suspects. Given the illicit nature of these substances, the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force is aiding in the investigation. This incident underlines the potential dangers arising from unregulated access to firearms and illegal drugs for vulnerable youth groups.
