
Yesterday, a violent incident shocked Twentynine Palms, California, when a man attempted to kill his wife. As stated in a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, Morongo Basin Station deputies were called to the scene on Mariposa Avenue. The assailant, identified as 33-year-old Twentynine Palms resident Michael Champagne, was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
The victim, according to the press release, informed the deputies that Champagne had strangled her with a belt until she lost consciousness.
Champagne is currently being held at the Morongo Basin Jail, with a bail set at $1,000,000.
