Yesterday, a severe fire ravaged a vacant Craftsman-style house in Westlake, Los Angeles. Amid the raging flames consuming the century-old home, firefighters discovered a critically burned man, leaving the building wrecked beyond repair.
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) stated the fire ignited shortly before 7 p.m. at 722 South Hartford Avenue. Witnesses reported massive flames erupting from the large, two-story home, formerly converted into a residential duplex. The severely injured man, somehow managing to escape the burning house, suffered intense third-degree burns on his legs.
The unidentified man received treatment on site before being transported to a regional burn center. No other injuries or reports of missing persons have emerged since the fire occurred, but the building is now severely damaged and structurally unstable, as reported by CBS News.
An update from LAFD informs that they have deployed heavy equipment like bulldozers and excavators to manage the post-fire situation. Investigations around the event are currently underway.
