In a tragic turn of events on Christmas Day, a 24-year-old man has been charged with the murder of another man outside a Garland restaurant. According to CBS News, the suspect identified as Johnny Lewis III was arrested after law enforcement responded to a shooting at the Chandelier Cafe and Lounge.
Officials were called to the scene in the 4400 block of West Walnut Street, where they found the victim, 34-year-old Fuad Baranja suffering from a gunshot wound. Baranja was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Witnesses provided accounts suggesting that an argument had spiraled into lethal violence, leading to the fatal shooting.
The Garland Police Department found the man wounded early Christmas morning near the cafe, shortly after 8 a.m. Monday. Consequently, Lewis now faces a murder charge and is currently being held at the Garland Detention Center, with no bond yet set for his release.
