Arlington residents can breathe a little easier today as the city announces the completion of crucial sewage system enhancements along Matlock Road, known to be a vital conduit for the community's waste management efforts. Arlington Water Utilities has successfully wrapped up its Matlock Road Sanitary Sewer Improvements project, designed to ameliorate services in central Arlington, closer to the Matlock Road and West Mayfield Road intersection.
The initiative, greenlit earlier this year by the Arlington City Council, set Arlington's coffers back by $1,262,903. The contract to bring the aging sewage system up to modern standards was awarded to Gra-Tex Utilities, Inc. The company was tasked with the hefty responsibility to not only replace but also substantially upgrade approximately 1,510 linear feet of the 8-inch sewer main spanning from West Mayfield Road to Central Park Drive, according to the City of Arlington, Texas.
Step by step, the city's water department has worked to ensure uninterrupted service while construction crews toiled diligently, resulting in periodic but necessary lane closures. The residents' patience during this time did not go unnoticed, with Arlington Water extending thanks for the community's forbearance. Post-construction, the affected concrete pavement panels were meticulously restored, signaling the project's completion and the resumption of normal traffic flow.
The urgency of these replacements stemmed from the deteriorated state of the previous sewage lines, which posed the threat of unsanitary overflows.
