The City of Arlington is on a roll, nabbing a slew of awards for its knack for storytelling through video, thanks to the Office of Communication's latest works. It’s not just the locals taking notice—state and national organizations have given the team a thumbs-up, with seven new accolades to add to their ever-growing trophy case.
At the heart of the award spree is the five-part docuseries Journey to Baseball Town, which hit a home run, snagging four awards from the National Association of Telecommunication Officers and Advisors (NATOA). This top-tier recognition came as part of their 2023 Government Programming Awards, which honor local government agencies that excel in broadcast and multimedia production, according to the City of Arlington, Texas.
As if the national spotlight wasn’t enough, the Texas Association of Telecommunication Officers and Advisors also heaped praise on Arlington's video mavericks. Journey to Baseball Town clinched first place in both the documentary and partnership production categories at the organization’s recent conference, further solidifying its reputation as a heavy hitter.
The docuseries’ awards included an Award of Excellence for Documentary and an Award of Distinction for Historical from NATOA. Furthermore, the city's video squad earned a nod for their fiscal savvy with an honorable mention in public education for their FY23 budget video. These kudos bring Arlington's total award count in 2023 to an impressive 22—a testament to the Office of Communication's prowess behind the camera.
