An AT&T Stadium employee tasked with ticket-checking duties was nabbed on Sunday night after allegedly accepting cash to allow fans without tickets to enter the stadium for the Dallas Cowboys game. The scheme came to light when an economic crimes detective with Arlington police was tipped off about a worker letting a group into the much-anticipated Cowboys-Eagles game sans tickets, as reported by FOX 4 News.
Arlington authorities stated that upon interrogation, 19-year-old Diego Soto confessed to the deed but failed to disclose the cash amount received for the shortcut admission. His official duties included scanning tickets after the security check; however, this aberration in his work led to his arrest on one count of commercial bribery, according to WFAA.
Setting Soto's bond at $1,500, jail records illuminate the state-level seriousness of the charge. That evening's game was touted as the high point of the Cowboys season against NFC East foe Philadelphia, with even standing-room spots demanding a hefty $100-$200 price tag.
