An Atlanta culinary icon, Mr. Everything Cafe, is getting a new lease on life with its grand re-opening and 30th-anniversary celebration today. The family-owned eatery, known for its commitment to healthy dining, has set up shop in a new two-story building on Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. SW, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. With a rich history of serving the MLK corridor, Mr. Everything Cafe remains a key player in the community's food scene. In an excited statement obtained by WSB-TV, co-owner Monica Smith said, "This day has been a long time coming, as we have been serving the community along the MLK corridor for 30 years."
Festivities are slated to begin at 11 a.m. with the expectation of local politicians and various notables in attendance to mark the event. Offering insight into the day's events, Monica Smith shared with FOX 5 Atlanta, "Our event is open to the public and will include remarks from our local politicians, AUC representatives, celebrities, and nonprofit organizations - that we support, all of whom are long-standing customers." To spice up the celebration, every 30th patron will receive a complimentary adult beverage from the cafe's second-floor bar over the coming weeks.
Mr. Everything Cafe has stood as one of the top five black-owned businesses in Atlanta for over a quarter-century. It boasts an open kitchen concept, allowing for a transparent dining experience, where patrons can see their food being made, fostering familiarity and community. "Most of our customers have been supporting us since they were in college and our cooks know them by name and most times their order," Jayson Smith told FOX 5 Atlanta, highlighting the deep-rooted connections the cafe has nurtured over the years.
The journey of Monica and William Jayson Smith has been one of culinary adventure and community devotion. Arriving in Atlanta in 1991 and opening the original cafe just two years later, the couple's vision has flourished into two corporate stores and three local franchises throughout Georgia. In addition to local expansion, the Smith family is set to take their dining philosophy to a wider audience with a new establishment opening at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in 2024. Celebrating the new chapter, the Smiths also highlighted their family-centric approach, as the restaurant is a labor of love shared with their eight children and ten grandchildren, as reported by WSB-TV.
The public is invited to join the Smith family in celebrating this milestone, as they express their gratitude for the unwavering support over the past three decades. As Mr. Everything Cafe enters this new era, it maintains its foundational commitments: to serve healthy food, cherish its community, and know its customers not just by their orders, but by name.
