
Tragedy struck early on December 12 when a cyclist was killed in a collision on E Parmer Lane, marking Austin's 87th fatal car crash this year, according to the Austin Police Department.
The victim, identified as Ashton Hutchison, was pronounced dead at the scene following the harrowing incident, which occurred at around 1:33 a.m. and involved two vehicles in addition to the bicycle, authorities responded swiftly and found one driver had stayed behind, this driver is currently cooperating with the investigation, and another driver fled only to be arrested later, as per Austin Police Department.
Charges brought against the driver who left include possession of a controlled substance and failure to stop and render aid, the consequences of these actions amount to more than just a legal reprimand, as reported by the Austin Police Department.
