Early Sunday morning, Austin Police Department detectives began an investigation into a homicide that occurred on Congress Avenue. According to a report by KXAN, the incident took place just after 4 a.m. in the 600-block area. Police received a distress call at 4:17 a.m. regarding a stabbing in downtown Austin, arriving on the scene within a mere five minutes to provide life-saving measures.
Despite the prompt response, Austin-Travis County EMS medics were required to transport the victim to Dell Seton Medical Center; however, the individual succumbed to their injuries. As of now, police statements have not clarified the events leading up to the stabbing or identified the victim.
