A grisly scene unfolded at a local 7-Eleven in Austin last Sunday when police responded to reports of a stabbing, leading to a citywide manhunt for the assailant. The Austin Police Department (APD) arrived at the convenience store on Research Boulevard at approximately 8:33 p.m. to find Chad Barron, the victim, suffering from a knife wound. Tragically, despite being rushed to the hospital, Barron did not survive the assault.
APD's Homicide Unit, alongside Crime Scene Specialists, were quickly on the scene, piecing together the unfortunate series of events. According to the official report, the stabbing did not occur at the store but at an intersection close by. Barron, in what must have been profound agony, made his way to the 7-Eleven where he eventually collapsed. The assailant responsible for the stabbing fled the scene on foot immediately after committing the crime.
In the days following the incident, details remain scant, and the suspect is still at large. The Austin Police is urging any witnesses or individuals with information to step forward. Tips can be sent to APD's Homicide unit, or anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program. Incentives for helpful information have been announced, with rewards of up to $1,000 for leads resulting in an arrest.
