The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is cracking down on a grisly murder case following the discovery of a body dumped on a remote road in far northwest Bexar County, leaving the community seeking answers and justice. According to Fox San Antonio, the deceased was identified as Pete Gonzales Eguia, a 51-year-old man who had been reported missing shortly before the grim discovery was made last Saturday.
Initially mistaken for a younger individual due to the decomposed state of his body, Pete Gonzales Eguia's true age came to light upon his identification. His life was cut short by gunshot wounds that the police believe were inflicted elsewhere before his body was mercilessly dumped off Escondida Road. As shared by the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, urging witnesses or those with information to come forward, they released a statement indicating that Eguia's car, showing evidence of front-end damage, was found two days prior to the body in Bexar County, last seen in San Marcos on November 30, as per Fox San Antonio.
A shoe on the road prompted a driver to investigate further, leading to the finding of Eguia's remains. As revealed by Sheriff Salazar in a statement obtained by KSAT. Meanwhile, the unlocked apartment left behind by Eguia bore no signs of disturbance when police responded to a family-initiated welfare check.
The Sheriff's Department is now piecing together the days leading up to Eguia's untimely end, his last known whereabouts, and the weapon that brought his demise, with Salazar confirming that trauma to Eguia's upper body was evident. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office has now taken the helm of the homicide investigation, urging anyone with information.
