A Bloomington fugitive, Ibrahim Ghassan Sleyman, has confessed to a vile string of child pornography and enticement charges after his guilt-ridden plea was entered in court. According to a press release by the U.S. Attorney's Office, the 30-year-old used social media apps, including Snapchat, to prey upon and exploit minors, with some children being as young as nine.
The court documents unveiled a disturbing spree from October 2020 to March 2023, in which Sleyman groomed and coerced minors into sexual acts and the creation of pornographic material. Sleyman used drugs and gifts to manipulate a minor into producing obscene content, and when the law came knocking, he fled to Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, on September 6, 2022. Despite being a fugitive, the predator continued his illicit activities from abroad, engaging in sexually explicit communications with minors back in the States.
However, the long arm of the law extended across oceans, and with the assistance of the United Arab Emirates authorities, Sleyman was extradited back to the U.S. The FBI apprehended him on September 15. The U.S. Attorney's Office has confirmed that they have identified at least 22 victims linked to Sleyman's sexual crimes. The authorities urge anyone who believes they or their dependents might have been victimized by Sleyman to reach out to the FBI Tip Line or submit tips through their official website.
In the wake of his extradition, Sleyman's admission of guilt came before U.S. District Court Judge Donovan W. Frank. During the plea, he acknowledged his deplorable actions involving 22 minors. "Sleyman pleaded guilty yesterday before U.S. District Court Judge Donovan W. Frank to one count of attempted production and production of child pornography, one count of receipt of child pornography, and one count of enticement of a minor," according to the announcement by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
