Hingham shoppers faced a harrowing interruption on Christmas Eve when a bomb threat prompted the evacuation of several businesses in Lincoln Plaza. Marshalls, a popular retail store, received a threatening call around 2:55 pm, alerting them of a bomb in a specified area within the premises, authorities said.
The Hingham Police Department swiftly reacted to the threat, ordering an immediate evacuation of Marshalls and four neighboring establishments as a precautionary measure, despite there being no sign of danger in plain sight. The police, alongside Fire Officials and a K9 unit from the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Unit, canvassed the area. After a thorough yet brisk search, no explosive devices were discovered, reported the Hingham Police Department.
By 4:09 pm, the affected stores were deemed safe and allowed to reopen. The Hingham police have yet to pinpoint those responsible for the alarming threat and continue to solicit assistance from the public.
