Witnesses captured video footage showing heavy smoke, billowing from the windows of the upper floors, signifying the intensity of the blaze. The fire department's swift arrival on the scene allowed firefighters to knock down the heavy fire within minutes. Crews were then seen overhauling the building, preventing the fire from reigniting, or spreading to other structures.
While the flames were brought under control, as of now, there are no reported injuries. The Boston Fire Investigation Unit is currently onsite conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the inferno. The extensive damage caused by the fire has left the future of the building uncertain.
The Boston Fire Department has not yet issued a statement regarding the potential cause of the fire, though the investigation remains active and underway. Details will likely emerge once officials have had the opportunity to thoroughly examine the scene. Residents in the area have expressed concern, over the construction site's safety protocols prior to the incident.
