In a tense encounter in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood, police apprehended a man reportedly wielding a firearm after a heated dispute. Paul Thompson, 37, faces serious charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, according to a report by Boston Police Department.
Running from the officers that were responding, Thompson tried to evade capture after being part of a conflict where a gun was brandished. He was later caught on Burbank Street. Two other individuals were frisked by the police who did not reveal their identities. It was 8:16 PM on December 22 when police first received the call about an armed man at 41 Edgerly Road.
During the frantic foot chase, officers managed to catch up with the fleeing Thompson. A Willison Combat CQB pistol was found hidden in his pants, armed with live ammunition — one round was in the chamber and additional five housed in the magazine, with one more jammed in the magazine well, a tense situation unfolding just feet from Boston's unsuspecting public.
Thompson's capture led to his immediate arrest, and the charges don't end with just firearm possession. He also must answer for carrying a large capacity feeding device and unlawful ammunition possession, adding to legal woes he now faces. His arraignment is slated in Roxbury District Court.
