A man in a balaclava mask has been arrested after a foot chase in Roxbury, which culminated in the suspect aiming a firearm at pursuing officers. According to Boston Police Department news, the arrest occurred around 4 PM on Wednesday, when the Youth Violent Strike Force and Mass State Police were patrolling Dudley and Shirley Streets.
The suspect, later identified as Elios Alves, 27, of Dorchester, caught officers' attention due to his suspicious behavior and an attempt to walk away upon their approach. Boston Police stated that Alves appeared to be extremely hypervigilant with a black balaclava mask covering his entire face, prompting the officers' concern. Upon trying to engage with the suspect, he fled the scene, subsequently pointing a firearm at one of the officers in hot pursuit.
Further action led to Alves discarding the weapon before trying to make a break for it once more, only to be apprehended shortly after. The recovered firearm and charges levied against Alves include unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, assault with a dangerous weapon to wit: firearm, possession of Class A, possession of Class B, and trespassing. He is slated for arraignment in Roxbury District Court.
