A Boston staple where the rhythm of jazz meets Southern-style eats, Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen (DCBK), will be taking its final bow on New Year's Eve before undergoing a brand makeover. According to Boston Restaurant Talk, Gary Goldblatt, the South End institution is closing temporarily on December 31, but not before celebrating more than six decades of music, food, and community.
The closure marks the end of an era for the venue at 604 Columbus Avenue, which has been serving patrons since 2010; however, the site has a rich lineage of past establishments such as The Stork Club and Bob's Southern Bistro. The need to refresh and reenergize was echoed in a note on DCBK's website, stating, "After careful consideration and heartfelt reflection, we have decided to embark on a brief hiatus to breathe new life into our beloved establishment," a decision born out of a desire to preserve the venue's longstanding legacy while gearing up for the future.
Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen isn't just known for its down-home comfort food and distinctive drinks; it's a place where the community has gathered around the sounds of live jazz, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and shared experiences. A melding of friends, food, and music has become a signature, as per the restaurant's official website, DCBK prides itself on providing an environment brimming with "soul, spice, and all that jazz."
