The event unfolded last Friday when a patrolling officer near Balfour Road and West County Club Drive was alerted to a vehicle involved in a carjacking in Hayward. The suspects attempted to evade police, leading to a brief pursuit.

Despite their efforts to quickly get away, the officer managed to detain all occupants safely. Identified as the driver, 21-year-old Zane Vincent of Brentwood was taken into custody. Police recovered a weapon they believe was used in the carjacking. Brentwood Police Department stated, "Fortunately, all occupants from the vehicle were safely detained."

Hayward PD arrived later to continue their investigation and determined the other two passengers were also involved in the criminal act. They were named as 18-year-old Christian Grajales of Hayward and 19-year-old Wilberth MartinezHerrera of Newark. The incident highlighted the reality that crime knows no boundaries and the importance of the police's proactive approach in our communities.

In their announcement, Brentwood Police emphasized the potential for additional crimes that was averted thanks to the officer's intervention.
