In a routine yet vigilant response to criminal activity, the Brentwood Police Department nabbed a vehicle burglary suspect on a bustling city boulevard. On the Tuesday episode on Brentwood Blvd, officers converged on the scene following a dispatch call from the victim himself.
According to the police report released on Facebook, around the 7600 block, 37-year-old Agustin Martinez of Brentwood made the ill-advised decision to break into a parked car purportedly. The call to dispatch included a suspect description, a detail that would soon lead to a confrontation.
With an expediency that could turn minutes into moments, officers located and detained Martinez, who found himself in an area too close for coincidence. A search of the scene yielded signs of a motor vehicle under unwanted attention, and with the victim pointing to Martinez as the alleged actor of the disturbance, the die was cast in an all too familiar way.
Martinez, who trips the line fantastic back to a past tinged with infractions of a similar nature, could not escape the continuity of consequences. His rap sheet, decorated with a history of burglary and vehicle theft, seems to have expanded with this latest chapter. The officers transported the suspect to the Martinez Detention Facility.
