Chaos erupted in Powder Springs following a high-speed police chase that ended with a car crash involving a patrol car and the arrest of two individuals, including an armed teenager. The pursuit began after a vehicle, recognized by a Flock camera as having been involved in a carjacking, refused to stop for police yesterday afternoon, as FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
The chase compelled the suspects to eventually ditch their vehicle near a home and to swiftly run from the scene. A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody immediately, reportedly armed with a firearm. As per WSBTV, two other suspects initially fled into nearby woods, with one still remaining at large after a second was apprehended later that evening.
The police SUV involved in the chase suffered damage on the passenger side door, as was evident when a tow truck was spotted removing the mangled vehicle from the site at Richard D. Sailors Parkway and Old Macland Road. Fortunately, all involved in the crash, including the officer, escaped serious injury, either reporting uninjured or with minor injuries requiring hospital attention, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
As the manhunt continues, local residents are urged to remain vigilant. "Another point of interest, we know from the juvenile that was captured that they are not close by at all, so, they are probably not going to know where they are at, so they are just going to be on foot in the area," Powder Springs Capt. Anthony Stallings told FOX 5 Atlanta. The names and descriptions of the suspects have not been released, and the authorities encourage anyone with information to promptly contact 911 with any leads that could assist in locating the remaining fugitive.
