Carrollton has snagged an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) for the fiscal year 2022, a big thumbs-up from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
This isn't just a pat on the back; it's a national nod for hitting the lofty peaks of report prep in the maze of state and local government finances, a feat not to be taken lightly. To even be in the running for the PAFR award, a government agency has to also submit its comprehensive annual financial report to the GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and win it for the current fiscal year. Carrollton checked all those boxes with a flourish.
"We’re very pleased to receive this award for the 2022 PAFR because we know we have engaged residents who will appreciate the wide range of financial information the document offers,” Diana Vaughn, Carrollton’s Chief Financial Officer, said. The PAFR breaks it all down, from the General Fund balance to the nitty-gritty of property and sales tax data, along with the shiny new additions to the capital assets. It seems the fruits of Carrollton's labors are as transparent as the report itself, according to the City of Carrollton, Texas.
The judges looked not just for numbers that add up but for charm too, like a well-designed, easy-to-read format and crisp photographs that can make even fiscal data tables look appealing. The review team handed kudos to Carrollton for excellent digital distribution methods, ensuring the report is just a click away for curious citizens.
