On Tuesday, eco-conscious businesses in Carrollton were spotlighted as the city doled out its prestigious 2023 Environmental Leadership Awards. These 10 firms, recognized for their dedication to sustainability, were applauded at the City Council meeting for adhering to strict environmental regulations over the past year.
Mayor Steve Babick and Councilmember Christopher Axberg teamed up to present the awards, highlighting the companies' consistent efforts to follow industrial pretreatment and stormwater standards. The awardees, seasoned in receiving accolades from the city, have collectively racked up over 100 recognitions for their continual environmental commitment, as reported by the City of Carrollton, Texas.
The roll call of honorees included Century Products, Inc.; Electro Plate Circuitry, Inc.; Image Industries; International Paper Company—Belt Line Road; QPC (Quality Powder Coating); Quantum Global Technologies, LLC.; Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products; Rudy’s Tortillas; Swiss American; and Wash Solutions, Inc. Each has not just met the basic industrial obligations but pushed beyond them to protect Carrollton’s vital water resources.
Beyond the main accolades, Century Products and Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products received the Carrollton Environmental Distinction Award for going the extra mile with inventive sustainability initiatives. The former slashed its carbon footprint by trading out old bulbs for LEDs and has been steadily reducing waste, while the latter converted waste dough into animal feed, contributing to a greener Carrollton, as per the City of Carrollton, Texas.
