Chicago Man Charged with Human Trafficking, Involuntary Servitude in Alleged Prostitution RingSource: Facebook/DuPage County State's Attorney's Office

A Chicago man is behind bars, accused of trafficking and brutally forcing multiple women into prostitution, as unearthed in a police investigation, per reports from the Chicago Tribune. Heggie Carr, a 46-year-old South Shore resident, was arrested at a Lombard hotel with four women, aged between 18 and 32, discovered on the premises.

Charged with two counts each of felony involuntary servitude and human trafficking, Carr's immediate future was sealed as a DuPage County judge ruled Friday that he would remain incarcerated until his trial. This update comes as at least one of the women he allegedly exploited met a tragic fate through a drug overdose, and disturbing details emerge of Carr providing drugs, food, and weight gain pills to manipulate his victims and would withhold drugs if they did not meet his productivity expectations. The FOX 32 Chicago gathered that at least one woman was subjected to daily beatings at his hands.

In a reprehensible revelation, Carr had allegedly offered an 18-year-old woman what was perceived to be a clerical job, only to enmesh her into managing prostitution activities for other women. The Tribune reports detail a harrowing quota system wherein she was forced to generate thousands in daily income. Evidence was rooted in more than 1,000 profiles advertising women's services dating back to August 2021, exposed following his most recent stretch of freedom after a prison term served for aggravated domestic battery, starting July 2021.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin addressed the gravity of these crimes, stating, "The charges against Mr. Carr are in a word, appalling," marking a societal outcry against the exploitation and trapping of the young victims that should, he said, "send a chill down the spine of each and every one of us," according to his statement obtained by FOX 32 Chicago. Carr, set to appear in court on December 11, could face a maximum of 30 years if convicted for his heinous acts. Recent court motions unravel additional layers of his past, including a grim history of sexually abusing minors, one victim shockingly being his own 11-year-old daughter.
