A tragic accident claimed the life of a young motorcyclist in the McKinley Park area of Chicago, authorities reported. The 21-year-old man was involved in a fatal collision with a Jeep SUV after failing to stop at a red light, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the 3400 block of South Damen Avenue, as the rider traveled southbound the motorcycle struck the other vehicle and the impact was severe, leading to his death at the scene the police have yet to release the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin. Chicago Police's Major Accident Investigation Unit is currently handling the investigation.
No other individuals were harmed in the accident, with WLS-TV reporting no reports of injuries to the occupants of the Jeep SUV. Details regarding the speed at which the motorcyclist was traveling are not available at this time.
