The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is piecing together clues in what is suspected to be a cold-blooded killing on a desolate road in far northwest Bexar County. A report from FOX San Antonio detailed the grim discovery made around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, when deputies rushed to the 10000 block of Escondida Road after a call came in about a distressing find.

According to Sheriff Javier Salazar, a local resident, upon noticing a tennis shoe on the road, discovered the body of a man, which showed evident signs of trauma while driving. The unfortunate man's corpse was found about 20 to 30 feet off the road. "There was a dead body," Salazar stated, leading officials to believe the victim might have been murdered and then discarded like refuse off the roadway.

Meanwhile, a KSAT report indicated that the body, already showing signs of slight decomposition, had evidence of having been dragged. On the road where the man was found are an event center and several large properties. The sheriff described the deceased as a male likely aged in his 20s or 30s with noticeable trauma to his upper body.

Adding to the intrigue, Sheriff Salazar remarked on a distinctive mark the victim bore—a large tattoo on his back, the nature of which was unclear due to the victim's condition. "My hope is that, at some point, we can get a picture of that tattoo and then publicize it to see if anybody recognizes it," Salazar told KSAT. It remains a question whether the murder took place where the body was found or elsewhere.

As investigators wait for the medical examiner to weigh in, they are combing through missing persons cases in hopes of identifying the victim. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is urging the public to come forward with any information by calling 210-335-6000 or emailing [email protected]. We will press on to provide updates as more information is made available about this suspected homicide.
