Austin's dining scene continues to dish out surprises with the upcoming opening of local favorite Phoebe's Diner's third restaurant in North Austin. Slated for a January 9, 2024 opening at 12001 Burnet Road, this new branch vows to stick to the beloved Phoebe's formula of biscuits, fried chicken, grits and other comfort classics. According to a statement obtained by Eater Austin, fans of the diner can expect the same menu that has become a staple in the other two locations.
In an intriguing development reported by ATXtoday, a treasure trove of establishments, from sushi havens to pizza joints, are poised to fling open their doors across the city. Among them is Tare, planning to evolve from a pop-up to a full-fledged Omakase restaurant this fall, adding to the rich tapestry of Austin’s food offerings—alongside anticipated openings like Uchibā by Chef Tyson Cole, aiming to meld yakitori and whisky under one roof come October 6th.
The city's burgeoning food landscape doesn't stop there. It's been told by ATXtoday that places like Goldy's and Elementary are shaking up the breakfast and lunch routines with inventive spreads, while newly minted spots like Fabrik seduce with plant-based fine dining. The Gracy Farms neighborhood gains not only Phoebe’s Diner but also a new dimension to its gastronomic map.
Staying true to Austin's vibrant food culture, the array of dining delights stretches to include the Mexican fusion kitchen of Nômadé Cocina and the "modern Austin Chinese" flavor of Zoé Tong, both of which are anticipated to start welcoming customers in fall 2023. In contrast to these fresh faces, classics like Mangia Pizza bow out, making way for new ventures such as Phoebe's, which acquired the previous Mangia Pizza location and now gets set to fill in the gap with hearty American fare.
