San Antonio law enforcement is on high alert after two significant incidents rocked the city. A man was taken into custody in connection with the slaying of a young woman, discovered with a gunshot wound to the head. In another unsettling event, authorities are seeking a man after he allegedly issued a terrorist threat against a Catholic church, leaving the community on edge, as reported by KENS 5 News.
According to police, the murder occurred Friday night around 9:30 p.m. on the 3200 block of North Loop 1604 West. The other incident unfolded earlier that afternoon when a man entered Saint Matthew's Catholic Church, demanded to see a priest, and upon finding none available, brandished an unspecified device and claimed to have explosives in his car. No act of violence followed but the church was swift to report the confrontation to 911, the details of which were disclosed by KENS 5 News.
Blanche Rico, a longtime churchgoer who lives across from Saint Matthew’s, was present during Friday's incident and remarked to KENS 5 News, “It doesn’t surprise me that something like that would happen at Saint Matthew's; it’s happening all over the city." Even though she expresses confidence in the church’s ability to protect its parishioners, she added, "I would definitely feel relieved, I hope they all get caught, I hope anybody doing that or anybody else does get caught."
As the search intensifies, Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the individual who made the threats towards the church. San Antonio Police urge anyone with information to come forward as efforts to apprehend the suspect and ensure community safety continue.
