The council members prioritize preserving neighborhoods but recognize the issue: rising property taxes are forcing people out, as per the City of Dallas.
The trio is determined to address this by engaging the community extensively. They plan to hold community meetings, involve the Zoning Ordinance Advisory Committee (ZOAC), engage the city plan commission, proceed to the council committee, and ultimately put the matter to a council vote. Their aim is clear: to allow Dallas residents a voice in shaping whether the city prioritizes community roots, financial stability, or potentially both.
"Protecting and preserving the diverse neighborhoods in Dallas has always been our main focus, along with starting this conversation around how our city moves forward," said the council members in their collective message. They know Dallas is all grown up now, and the big question is how to give folks the freedom chips to pick the right hood, for them. With real estate prices soaring to new heights, they're looking to switch up the game on lot sizes and home affordability, per the City of Dallas.
