Dallas law enforcement has nabbed 35-year-old Sarah Cunningham, charging her with a collision involving injury in the hit-and-run case of a 5-year-old boy, Christian Sullivan, authorities confirmed. The suspect was identified earlier in the month by police, yet her arrest did not materialize until December 15, according to Patch.
The disturbing incident unfolded last month when the young victim was hit by a vehicle while en route with his peers from school to Timberview Recreation Center, situated in the North Dallas area. After releasing images of Cunningham's car, which led to her identification, a significant delay ensued before her apprehension, sparking concern and frustration within the local community.
Nevertheless, the unfortunate event has inadvertently sparked a change for the better, with the recent installation of a lighted stop sign near the recreation center, a testament to tireless advocacy for safer streets around educational institutions. “It made me feel good to see it,” Rachel Kotzin, Christian's mother said with a smile adding, “It's my mission to not just make this street safe, but all the streets that are close to the schools”, per CBS News.
