In the early hours of Sunday morning, a fatal car crash in Moreno Valley claimed the life of a driver after their vehicle, a 2019 Dodge Challenger, went up in flames following a high-speed collision. According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the incident occurred at the intersection of Perris Boulevard and Gentian Avenue around 3:52 a.m.
Responding deputies found the vehicle already consumed by fire upon their arrival. The driver, whose identity remains withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sgt. Marcos Acosta's report suggests that the muscle car was traveling at an illegal rate of speed when it veered out of control and violently met with a traffic signal pole.
A temporary shutdown of Perris Boulevard between Filaree Avenue and Santiago Drive was enforced as investigators went about their grim work, collecting evidence among the charred remnants. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with law enforcement calling on anyone with information to step forward. Potential witnesses to the tragedy or those with details are urged to contact Deputy Jason Slover at the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951–486–6700 or to reach out to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department directly at 951–776–1099.
