The city of Eden Prairie is rolling out the red carpet for event planners and environmentalists alike as 2024 looms on the horizon. As reported by the city's own announcement, those looking to host barn-styled shindigs can now place their bets on the quaint Riley-Jacques Barn, with calendars open for booking. And for others hoping to snag a spot in the more modern settings, the Round Lake Park Building and various other facilities will start taking reservations sharp at 7:00 a.m. this coming Tuesday.
Educational futures are getting a boost from the local Eden Prairie Community Foundation, which, riding the coattails of Dr. Jean Harris's legacy—the city's pioneer female and Black mayor—has flung the doors wide open for applications to the Dr. Jean L. Harris Scholarships. High school seniors living in or attending school in the city limits, and with an eye on college or university lectures, have until February 15 to throw their hats in the ring.
The deadline for this illuminating exchange is January 5.
Meanwhile, city officials are taking a break to sing "Auld Lang Syne," with the City Center shutting its doors on New Year's Day. Revelers and residents looking for a rundown of hours across other municipal facilities can march over to the city's website, where a calendar detailing these temporary changes is dancing at their fingertips.
